KUCHING: The kitchen area of a house in Lorong Temenggong Haji Gobil here, was damaged in an afternoon fire this afternoon.
No injuries or casualties were reported in the incident as 11 tenants managed to get out to safety.
A spokesman from the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said firemen from Petra Jaya station were deployed to the scene after receiving an emergency call around 1.25 pm.
Upon arrival, the team found that the fire had caused 30 per cent damages to the kitchen area, both the interior and exterior parts.
The fire was brought under control around 1.35 pm and was completely extinguished around 2.20 pm.
After ensuring that the situation was deemed safe, the team wrapped up the operation and returned to their station.
The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
