SARIKEI: An additional RM100,000 has been allocated by Sarikei Member of Parliament, Datuk Seri Huang Tiong Sii, for the upgrading of facilities at Masjid Nur Permai here.

The funding, which is under the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP), is part of his ongoing commitment to the development of religious institutions across Sarawak.

During his recent visit to the mosque, Huang, who is also the Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Deputy Minister, took the opportunity to inspect the progress of improvement works funded by last year’s RTP allocation of RM100,000.

Huang has contributed RM1.4 million to Masjid Nur Permai in recent years, including funding for the construction of a new mosque and various other infrastructure projects.

In a statement today, he stressed that Malaysia and Sarawak’s policies prioritising moderation and religious freedom allow citizens to peacefully practise their chosen faiths.

He also highlighted that religious values play a crucial role in promoting unity, mutual respect and harmony within the multi-ethnic community.

For the record, since 2019, Huang has allocated RTP funds to Masjid Nur Permai, including RM700,000 in 2019, RM300,000 in 2021, and RM100,000 each year from 2022 to 2025, in addition to contributions from other funding channels.
