SIBU: The leaders and members of Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) have been urged to actively engage with the community.
Ba’ Kelalan assemblyman Baru Bian emphasised that leaders should be constantly alert and ready to assist the community in order to gain their confidence and support.
“When election time comes, people will remember your leadership, your assistance, and the services you provided for them.
“Don’t only show up during election time. The people observe and see our sincerity in helping them,” he said in his speech at the PSB Gawai Dayak Dinner celebration here last night (June 17).
Baru said that PSB is acknowledging Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) as a formidable coalition with 76 seats in the State Legislative Assembly.
“However, as a party that we consider credible, we must continue to fulfil our responsibility to advocate for the welfare of the people who are not receiving adequate services from the government,” he said.
Baru, who is also the PSB secretary-general, also urged the top leaders to actively recruit new members, as the strength of a political party lies in its numbers.
“Therefore, make an effort to advertise and publicise PSB in your area and recruit members.
“In addition, encourage them (leaders) to establish branches according to our Constitution; branches can be opened in every state constituency in Sarawak.
“If your constituency doesn’t have a branch, I encourage you to open one. Remember, our strength and influence depend on our membership,” he said.
Also present were Bawang Assan assemblyman Datuk Seri Wong Soon Koh, who is also the PSB president; Engkelili assemblyman Johnical Rayong Ngipa, who is also the PSB deputy president; and others.
