KUCHING: A total of 175 programmes have been planned within the next year under the Ministry of Youth, Sport and Entrepreneurship Development.
Its Minister Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said that the programme consists of 70 youth development programmes, 70 sport development programmes and 35 entrepreneurial programmes with emphasis on economic, social and environmental sustainability.
“We hope that these programmes will achieve our objectives in enhancing youth engagement and participation as well as inculcating good leadership qualities, spirit of volunteerism, teamwork, self-confidence and resilience in facing future challenges,” he said in his ministerial winding up speech during the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting on today (Nov 30).
He also added that in ensuring all of its planned development programmes can be effectively implemented to target groups, his ministry will continue its Tiada Minggu Tanpa Program initiative covering youth, sports and entrepreneurship to be implemented throughout the state.
On another note, Abdul Karim noted that his ministry has also intensified and expanded the involvement of youth associations and organisations in Sarawak.
“This aspiration emphasises MYSED as a facilitating agency for the involvement of youth associations.
“Grants amounting to over RM6.6 million have been channelled to 150 youth and sport associations in Sarawak for their development,” he said, adding that his ministry will continue to allocate grants, utilise partnerships and facilitate the involvement of youth and sport associations in the coming years.
