KUCHING: Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg was returned unopposed as Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Gedong branch chief for the 2024-2027 term.
Abang Johari thanked the party members for their continuous support.
“The strength of our party comes from the unity of the members. Where ever they are and from their unwavering fighting spirit, we are united to develop our homeland.
“We prioritise the struggle, which has resulted in our leadership structure being exceptionally well-organised. It is crucial for us to uphold the party as the pillar of our struggle for the people of Sarawak,” he said during the closing ceremony of PBB Gedong delegate meeting at Raia Hotel and Convention Centre here today.
As the assemblyman of Gedong who has served for two and a half years, Abang Johari reminded the party members to maintain the strength and relevance of the party in future.
“We are currently midway through the term, with the next election expected in about two years. However, the exact timeline remains uncertain,” he said, reflecting on their ongoing commitment to serving the community.
Abang Johari also emphasised the pivotal role of PBB as the dominant force within the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) coalition.
“PBB’s strength lies in its unity and commitment. Over the past two to three years, this strength has not only stabilised the political landscape in Sarawak but also contributed to the broader stability of the nation,” he said.
Meanwhile, Datuk Seri Mohd Naroden Majais, a special representative to the Premier, was retained as the PBB Gedong branch deputy chief.
