KUCHING: Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg witnessed the symbolic handover of zakat contributions totalling RM387,439 during the Yayasan Sarawak Group’s Iftar ceremony at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) last night (Mar 12).
The contributions were presented by Yayasan Sarawak Group’s subsidiary companies with Petronesa Sdn Bhd contributing RM363,426 and Sanjung Etika Sdn Bhd donating RM12,000, both handed over by their chairman, who is also the State Secretary, Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki.
Meanwhile, another subsidiary, Pometia Sdn Bhd, contributed RM12,013, represented by its chairman, who is also the director of Yayasan Sarawak, Datuk Mersal Abang Rosli.
The contributions were received by Tabung Baitulmal Sarawak (TBS) General Manager, Datuk Abang Mohd Shibli Abang Mohd Nailie.
Attended by 950 staff members and their families, the event also featured Abang Johari presenting symbolic Raya money contributions to 20 students from various institutions, including Yayasan Kemajuan Insan Sarawak (YAKIN), Yayasan Sarawak International Secondary School in Petra Jaya, Kuching, and Sibu, as well as Yayasan Sarawak-sponsored students under the Student Exchange Programme, and children of Yayasan Sarawak staff.
