KANOWIT: Ngemah assemblyman Anyi Jana has expressed his aspiration for the establishment of a dedicated township within his constituency.
Drawing attention to his service centre’s location in the Kanowit town centre, situated within the Machan constituency and relatively distant from Ngemah’s residents, Anyi expressed his desire for a more centralised and accessible hub.
He said that a township built within his constituency would provide ease of access to the public to reach out to his service centre instead of having to travel to the Kanowit town centre.
“I hope that in the coming year, the Ngemah constituency will have its own township, so that we can have our service centre there,” he said in his welcoming speech at the Pre-Christmas programme attended by 600 attendees here last night (Dec 15).
The programme was organised by Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) Ngemah women and youth wings and officiated by Deputy Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Datuk Snowdan Lawan.
Snowdan, in his speech, advised Anyi to come up with a proposal and propose it as one of the projects under Mid Rajang Development Agency, formerly known as The Rascom Development Agency (Rasda), once the agency is established.
“In my area, we have two – Sri Aman Development Agency (SADA) and Greater Kuching Coordinated Development Agency (GKCDA). Each of these development agencies has an allocation of RM1.5 billion.
“Similarly, the Mid Rajang Development Agency, once finalised, will be given the same allocation, and it can be fully utilised to bring development to Kanowit,” he said.
At the event, Snowdan allocated RM10,000 each to the PRS Ngemah women and youth wings, while similarly, Anyi also allocated RM20,000 each to the PRS Ngemah women and youth wings.
