THE late Senate President Datuk Mutang Tagal was a proud leader of the Lun Bawang community and was committed to reforming the Malaysian Parliament, said Tan Sri Johari Abdul.
The Dewan Rakyat Speaker said that Mutang was deeply concerned about the welfare of the Malaysian people.
“His passing is a great loss to all. On behalf of the entire Malaysian Parliament, we hope that the family of the late Mutang will be given strength and patience to face this painful time,” Johari said in a Facebook post today (May 10).
Lanang MP and Deputy Speaker Alice Lau also expressed her condolences via social media.
“Sad news. YB Senator Datuk Mutang Tagal was a very friendly and humble man. Deepest condolences to the family and loved ones. May his soul rest in eternal peace,” she said.
Lau also shared a black and white photo of herself and Mutang having a conversation.
Mutang, 70, passed away today at 11.46 am at the National Heart Institute (IJN) in Kuala Lumpur. He had been undergoing treatment at the institute after falling ill during a working trip to Azerbaijan on May 6.
