If you have a knack for old things, a collector of things that belong in the past; or on the other hand, if you would like to part with them for a price, drop in on a quaint little shop in old Carpenter Street named “Law Pang Tee”.

Sitting and minding the arrays of odds-and-ends surrounding him is its unassuming proprietor and namesake, 77-year-old Mr. Law Pang Tee himself.

Besides those from his own collections, Law buys and sells artifacts such as religious items, figurines of deities, old currency notes and coins (including foreign ones), postage stamps, and “first day covers”.

You may even find old pictures of famous leaders and Hollywood actors of yesteryears among the antiquities.

Law said that unlike in previous years, business is not as good nowadays, but fortunately he still manages to earn enough from sales to tourists as well as locals. As for items he bought, he re-sells them for 10% profit.

“The good thing is, this shop is my own. I don’t have to worry about paying rent,” he said with a gesture of relief.
