KUCHING: The newly appointed Kuching North City Commission (DBKU) mayor Datuk Junaidi Reduan thinks Medan Niaga Satok at Kubah Ria here needs a facelift.

He told reporters this after a walkabout programme at the market yesterday morning.

“Based on my observation, this market needs a facelift, particularly in terms of beautification and cleanliness, to attract more visitors.”

Junaidi was also not happy with the state of cleanliness at the market, describing it as “below satisfactory”.

He revealed he would be looking deeply into the littering issue before setting up any action plan.

“We need to study the issues carefully. I need to meet the hawkers and traders as well as Sarawak Federal Agriculture Marketing Authority (Fama) to discuss on how DBKU can help them.”

On traffic congestion at the market area, Junaidi said that solving the issue would be his top priority.
