SRI AMAN: A new administrative centre will be developed at Balai Ringin here, said Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg.

He added that State Secretary Datuk Jaul Samion and his deputy Datuk Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki have been tasked to implement the project.

The chief minister assured that he would incorporate it into the 12th Malaysia Plan proposals for road developments including spur roads to improve connectivity in rural areas as suggested by Youth and Sports Assistant Minister Datuk Snowdan Lawan and his team.

“I will give RM30 million for a preliminary study. In 2021, at the beginning of the 12th Malaysia Plan, we will implement the spur roads that will connect the trunk roads, until Simunjan,” he said during the launch of Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) Zone 6 roadshow at Lachau, near here yesterday.

The chief minister also approved a RM10 million fund to develop a mini stadium in Balai Ringin in efforts to advance youths in sports.

Earlier, Snowdan highlighted that there were 40 schools in Balai Ringin which have talented youths in various sports.

“We want to develop young talents and provide exposure and training,” he said, adding that a mini sports complex or stadium could also be used by locals particularly youths and students, and also for events such as interschool sport events.

“Balai Ringin can be described as a golden triangle, as it is located right in the centre of fast-developing areas of Serian, Simunjan and Sri Aman,” he remarked.

Some 5,000 people thronged Lachau to take part in the roadshow programme.

Also in attendance were Deputy Chief Ministers Tan Sri Dr James Jemut Masing and Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas; Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian; Welfare, Community Well-being, Women, Family and Childhood Development Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah; Law, State-Federal Relations and Project Monitoring Assistant Minister Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali and DUN Speaker Datuk Amar Mohd Asfia Awang Nassar.
