KAPIT: Starlite beat Ta Ann and Hariwood 2-0 to emerge as the champions of the 2nd Song Closed Futsal 2017 tournament organised by the Song District Futsal Club at the 1Malaysia futsal court, in Song recently.

Ta Ann and Hariwood team were finished second place while Selibut FC were third. A team from Education Department, Educator FC came in fourth.

Meanwhile, Rico Baling from Starlite team won the best futsal player award. .

The winners received prizes in the form of cash, trophies and medals.

Officiating at the closing cum prize giving ceremony was

Sarawak Administrative Officer from Song District Office, Laga Kueh officiated at the closing and prize giving ceremony and gave away the prizes.

A total of 14 teams took part in the competition comprising 150 players who were mostly civil servants and youths in the district.

According to Song Futsal Club, Hamzah Bohari, the competition is an annual activity held to encourage youngsters to play futsal and raise the standard of the game in the district.

“I am very happy with the encouraging response to the competition that saw 14 teams taking part which proves that futsal is popular among the people here”, said Hamzah.
