Otok to perform at MBKS auditorium today

KUCHING: A non-profit organisation, Oriental Traditional Orchestra Kuching (Otok), will showcase its talent in traditional oriental music at the MBKS auditorium, Jalan Padungan here today.

The show, organised in collaboration with Kuching City South Council (MBKS) will commence at 3pm.

The orchestra has been actively involved in performances for local associations and charity events in Sarawak and Brunei.

Members of the orchestra have also participated in both national and international Chinese instrumental competitions since the 90s and won several prizes.

Otok was incepted with a mission to cultivate oriental music and culture in the region.

Of late, it has also diversified its performances, having successfully co-organised experimental performances with international organisations from different music genres, such as jazz bands, western brass and woodwind orchestra from all over the world.

One of the achievements gained by the orchestra included performing at the Rainforest World Music Festival (RWMF) in 2002, 2018 and this year.  Entry to the performance today is free but seats are limited.

Those who did not get the complimentary tickets but are keen to go can still come and watch the performance but can only enter the auditorium after the show starts.
