SEPANG: Saudi telecom giant Mobily has distributed over 16,500 sim cards to Malaysian pilgrims.
Mobily’s external channel account manager Muhammed Bilal Randhawa said the initiative to give free sim cards to the pilgrims was part of the company’s social responsibility programme.
“We believe in the care of the pilgrims. It is not only business, it is a special service for the pilgrims because they are the guests of Allah.
“We make sure that from the first flight, when they (the pilgrims) arrive, they can immediately call their families,” he told the media at a farewell ceremony for haj pilgrims organised by Mobily here yesterday.
A total of 483 pilgrims flew to the Holy Land yesterday.
Muhammed Bilal said the sim cards have 2GB free data and its data coverage has 4G access in Makkah, Madinah, Muzdalifah and Arafah. – Bernama
