MIRI: ‘Sarawak’s Pride – Most Number of Unity Short Stories Project’ organisers are ramping up efforts to create awareness on the project.
Yayasan Perpaduan Sarawak (YPS) member Datuk Ose Murang and Sarawak Development Institute (SDI) Conference Division head Rosalind Wong briefed over 30 officers and representatives from 12 ethnic associations, religious groups, various other organisations and the media here yesterday.
As Kuching city will be celebrating its 31st anniversary and the fourth year since being accorded the title ‘City of Unity’, the aim of the project is to collect short stories on unity from all walks of life in Sarawak, and then shared with everyone so that they understand why unity is pride and how it may be further enhanced.
The project is also a record attempt to collect the most number of unity short stories from Sarawak for the Malaysia Book of Records.
Each story must be 50 to 200 words and the deadline for submission is June 15.
Ose said the organisers needed the help from various groups and organisations to promote the project.
Meanwhile, Wong said selected stories would be showcased at a walk-in maze set up at the Kuching Waterfront on Aug 1 in conjunction with Kuching City Day and later in Sibu, Bintulu, and Miri.
Certificates of participation will be issued to those whose stories are selected and special prizes will be given to the top three stories from each division.
Those interested to submit their short stories can do so via e-mail to sarawakpride@gmail.com, by filling up a form at the YPS website at www.yps.org.my, or by sending a submission to the SDI WhatsApp number at 013-6718063.
