KUCHING: Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Public Complaints Bureau chief Wilfred Yap and Kapitan Wong Ka Chuan inspected the situation at Jalan Luis where the residents there claimed an ongoing development project there is causing flash floods in the area.

Yap said he was approached by the residents to see how SUPP could assist them.

A meeting was then arranged between the Drainage and Irrigation Department, Kuching South City Council (MBKS), Kuching District Office and the Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) to apply for compassionate payment for the affected residents.

Yap said they also met with the developers to take steps to mitigate the flash flood problem by immediately constructing a small diversion culvert to speed up flow of water to prevent overflowing.
