KUCHING: Newly appointed Malaysian ambassador to Vatican City Westmoreland Edward Palon, 50, today paid a courtesy call on Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas at his office.
A career diplomat, he succeeded the former and first Malaysian ambassador to Vatican City Tan Sri Bernard Dompok.
Prior to his current posting, he was the Malaysian Consul General in Melbourne, Australia.
Westmoreland had also served in Singapore, USA (United Nations) and Chile in a career spanning 23 years.
Uggah congratulated him on his appointment, saying it was a great honour for the state.
