MIRI: Miri City Council (MCC) will work closely with the divisional health department in addressing and tackling dengue issues, said deputy mayor Julaihi Mohamad.
Julaihi, who was met after the MCC’s meet-the-people session yesterday morning at Pujut Corner market, has given his assurance that the dengue issues in the division is under control and is constantly being monitored.
“We will implement fogging on residential or eatery premises if necessary and public can request for fogging to be done at certain areas as well,” he said.
He further added, for areas which have been identified as positive for dengue, normally they would do fogging immediately.
On Thursday, state health director Dr Jamilah Hashim through a press statement confirmed one dengue case in Kampung Lusut Jaya 3.
Julaihi advised the public to take precautionary measures including keeping their premises and housing compounds clean at all times.
Meanwhile, on another issue, Jiulaihi said MCC will review on complaints from the public regarding the traffic lights along Jalan Bendahara here.
With too many traffic lights along the road, it has caused heavy traffic congestion especially during peak hours.
“We will conduct a review on the matter again,” he said.
Sharing the same sentiment was Miri mayor Adam Yii who was met earlier.
“We will conduct a study to synchronise the traffic lights along Jalan Bendahara to ensure that traffic flows smoothly,” Yii explained.
The traffic lights along Jalan Bendahara are placed less than 50m from one another.
On grass cutting works done by the Public Works Department which was resumed since January this year, Julaihi is hoping that maintenance works continues.
“After being halted in November and December last year, the maintenance work to cut grass along the protocol roads which are under federal government jurisdiction has resumed,” he said.
