KUCHING: In connection with the 212th Police Day, members of Police Family Association (Perkep) of Padawan District visited Rumah Kanak-Kanak Toh Puan Hajah Norkiah at Jalan Kuching-Serian yesterday.

The 18 members led by their chairman Emme Jasmin Ehsan were there to hand out donations to the orphans.

Kota Padawan Social and Welfare Association also participated in the activity.

Their entourage was welcomed by the Rumah Kanak-Kanak Toh Puan Hajah Norkiah principal Mohamad Iskandar Mohammed Tudin.

During the visit, donations such as disposable diapers, wet tissues, milk bottles were delivered.

In addition, Emme Jasmin also presented her personal cash contribution.

The children’s home was built in 2002 and fully completed in 2003.

With a total area of 9.83 hectares, it has been gazetted as a safe place for children under 18 years old who need care and protection.

The children’s home accepts children placed under the Child Act 2001. The boys should be 10 years old and below while girls are those under 18 years old.

To date, it houses 86 children from the age of four months to 17 years old.
