SEREMBAN: The Negeri Sembilan government aims to attract RM4 billion in investments in manufacturing and services, comprising new investments, as well as expansion of existing plants in 2019.
State Investment, Industry, Entrepreneurship, Education and Human Capital Committee chairman Dr Mohamad Rafie Ab Malek said the government was wooing foreign investors, particularly from the United States, Taiwan, the Netherlands, New Zealand and China, to increase their investment in the state.
“Although we are now at the discussion stage with them, the outcome looks positive. If the discussion is successful, we will achieve the target of attracting RM4 billion investment this year,” he told reporters here yesterday.
Rafie said most of the investments were slated for the Malaysia Vision Valley, which spanned three districts, namely Seremban, Nilai and Port Dickson, would include the development of the Negeri Sembilan Aerospace Valley.
He said the state would also house a solar energy project in the Jelebu district and a medical tourism project (a neuro surgery institute) in the Rembau district.
Meanwhile, he said Negeri Sembilan approved RM2.861 billion in investments, made up of RM1.606 billion foreign direct investment and RM1.255 bilion domestic investment in 2018, for which 3,372 jobs were created.
The total investments rose 103 per cent from RM1.41 billion in 2017 due to aggressive efforts undertaken by the new state administration, he said, adding that, “The effort to attract investors has brought encouraging results.”- Bernama
