KUCHING: A room in an Inn at Mile 3, Jalan Rock here caught fire early this morning.
A spokesperson from the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said in the 5.30am incident, a room in the premises was damaged in a fire.
A member of the public immediately contacted Bomba after he saw smokes billowing from the room.
When firefighters arrived at the premises, they saw a mattress on fire in the room. They immediately doused the fire to stop it from spreading to other rooms.
Further investigations revealed that the room was registered under a couple on the same day. However, they were not in during the fire.
No injuries or casualties were reported and the operation concluded at 7.41am.
The cause of the fire and loss incurred had yet to be ascertained.
