SIBURAN: An elderly man managed to save his house from being destroyed in a fire at Lorong Siburan 8, Kampung Siburan early this morning (Apr 7).
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said firefighters from the Siburan station were dispatched to the scene, about 8km away, after receiving a distress call at 2.41 am.
Upon arrival, the 75-year-old homeowner had already managed to extinguish the flames using pipe water.
The fire caused only five per cent damage, primarily affecting the ceiling at the back of the house and a pile of old items.
The team took over the scene to ensure the flames were completely extinguished. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Once the situation was deemed safe, the team ended the operation at 3.46 am.
