KUALA LUMPUR: The actions of Masjid Putra Heights and Sri Maha Kaliamman Temple in offering aid to victims of yesterday’s Putra Heights fire reflect the spirit of unity and solidarity in Malaysia’s harmonious society, says National Unity Minister Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang.

He expressed his appreciation for the noble effort, saying the initiatives by the mosque and temple were proof that religious diversity is not a barrier to unity but rather a strength that brings people together.

“This demonstrates that places of worship are not only for religious activities but also serve as community centres that can play a vital role in assisting society, especially in times of hardship.

“Such efforts should serve as an example and inspiration for all to contribute towards building a united and harmonious nation,” he said in a statement today (Apr 2).

He added that the situation also serves as a reminder to all Malaysians that unity is not just a slogan but must be translated into actions that reflect responsibility and care for one another.

“In facing any challenges, we as Malaysians must always practise love and support for one another, regardless of religious or racial backgrounds,” he said.

Yesterday, victims with minor injuries such as burns, wounds and breathing difficulties were temporarily placed at Sri Maha Kaliamman Temple for initial medical treatment by Health Ministry personnel before being sent to hospital.

Masjid Putra Heights was activated as a temporary relief centre to house those affected by the blaze, while Masjid Al-Falah USJ in Subang also announced that its doors were open to any victims in need of temporary shelter. –BERNAMA
