BINTULU: “Returning home should be about safety, not just speed.”

That was the message from Bintulu Division Resident Datuk Nyurak Keti, urging road users to prioritise safety as they travel for the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations.

He emphasised that ensuring a safe journey home must take precedence to prevent any unwanted incident.

“We understand that many are excited to reunite with their families, but rushing should never lead to tragedy.

“Drive carefully and remain vigilant. What truly matters is that we all arrive safely,” he said.

Nyurak was speaking to the media after participating in the Road Safety Campaign organised by the Bintulu Division Road Safety Council (MKJR) at the PETRONAS Petrol Station, Jalan Tun Hussein Onn, here today.

Nyurak presents a souvenir to Bintulu Deputy District Police Chief, DSP Mohd Fazri Yusof.

In addition, he took the opportunity to extend his Hari Raya greetings to all those celebrating, and expressed his hope that the festivities with loved ones would not be marred by unfortunate incidents.

“This is a special time to be with family and loved ones. On behalf of MKJR Bintulu Division, we wish all our friends celebrating a joyous Hari Raya.

“Make sure your journey is safe so you can create beautiful memories with your family,” he said.

He further noted that with the increase in traffic volume during the festive season, campaigns such as these are crucial in raising awareness among road users about the importance of staying alert and adhering to traffic regulations.

“Once again, I remind everyone, drive safely and save lives,” he said, expressing his hope that every journey home would be both safe and meaningful.
