BINTULU: Jepak assemblyman Iskandar Turkee places the well-being of his constituents as a top priority, with continuous efforts to support the needy.

Iskandar reaffirmed his dedication to ensuring that no one in the area is left in hardship.

He assured that his service centre is always open to assist the community in various ways.

According to Iskandar, besides his office, the Bintulu Member of Parliament’s service centre led by Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing, is also ready to provide support to those in need.

“This is the uniqueness of Bintulu and Sarawak – the strong spirit of unity regardless of race and religion.

“We work hand in hand to ensure that the people are always taken care of,” he said during a Ramadan visit organised by Tong Seng Huat (Bintulu) Sdn Bhd at the Bintulu District Mosque on Tuesday.

During the programme, 100 needy persons (asnaf) from among eligible zakat recipients and underprivileged groups from four villages in the Jepak constituency – Kampung Sinong, Kampung Dato, Kampung Sebiew and Kampung Masjid – received food baskets from the organisers.

Additionally, 450 packs of ‘bubur lambuk’ were distributed to the public in front of the mosque, adding to the festive Ramadan atmosphere apart from strengthening community ties.

Iskandar praised the solidarity of the local community, who are always ready to help regardless of their background.

He also commended the role of the corporate sector, such as Tong Seng Huat (Bintulu) Sdn Bhd, in actively organising charity programmes.

“This is the spirit we are proud of. We unite as one big family, helping each other regardless of race and religion,” he said.
