KUCHING: Malaysians are known for their generosity in extending aid to target groups and easing their burden during festive celebrations, said Women, Family, and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri.

She said more organisations and individuals in the country have been reaching out to the ministry and its agencies for guidance on the right platforms to channel their contributions.

“Some people ask how they can help, so we provide them with the names of those in need and connect them to the appropriate channels.

“Many generous Malaysians are willing to help because there are many target groups in need across the country,” she told a press conference at the Sinar Syawal YKN 2025 programme here today.

Earlier, Nancy, who is also National Welfare Foundation (YKN) chairman, celebrated 150 children from target groups in the Santubong parliamentary constituency by gifting them new Hari Raya clothing.

Alliance Islamic Bank Berhad, the event sponsor, also contributed ‘duit raya’ to the children.

“Yesterday, we held a similar programme in Lundu for 50 children, bringing the total to 200 children from the Kuching area who have received these contributions,” she added. – Bernama
