KUCHING: The World Economic Forum (WEF) is exploring the possibility of establishing industrial clusters in Bintulu as part of potential collaborations with Sarawak.
TVS reported that WEF head of community, regional, and global cooperation for Asia Pacific Shaun Adam said this initiative was among the key topics discussed during a meeting with Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
“Our visit today aims to explore potential collaborations between WEF and the Malaysian government, with a particular focus on Sarawak.
“We are looking into the possibility of establishing industrial clusters in Bintulu while also gaining deeper insights into Sarawak’s renewable energy transition funds, particularly in the field of hydrogen and related sectors,” he said.
He told the media this after paying a courtesy call on the Premier at Wisma Bapa Malaysia today (Mar 18).
Shaun added that Abang Johari shared his vision for Sarawak’s future priorities, and WEF remains open to fostering collaboration.
“We are exploring ways to work together. The Premier is highly focused on Sarawak’s green hydrogen initiatives and how they can contribute to the world’s evolving energy demands,” he added.
