KUCHING: Sarawak’s very own Jonah Chang Rigan is set to represent Malaysia in the shot putt event at the Queensland Track and Field Championship in Australia, with hopes of achieving a personal best.

The talented athlete is aiming to surpass the 18-metre mark, a significant milestone in his career.

While breaking the national record of 18.46 metres would be an added bonus, Jonah is primarily focused on pushing his own limits.

“I feel awesome. The atmosphere here (Queensland, Australia) is amazing, and the weather is perfect for competition.

“It’s motivating to compete alongside athletes at the same level, and I’m eager to see how far I can push myself,” he said when contacted by Sarawak Tribune recently.

Jonah’s event is scheduled for 8 am Malaysia time (10 am in Australia) on Saturday, 15 March.

The Queensland Track and Field Championship, which began on 13 March, will run until 16 March, bringing together top athletes from across the region.

With his sights set on making an impact on the international stage, Jonah is determined to showcase his talent and continue his journey in athletics.
