SHAH ALAM: Ventrix Borneo Sdn Bhd (Ventrix Borneo), in collaboration with Pengurusan Infrakop Sdn Bhd (Infrakop), is optimistic about driving the development of Sarawak’s space industry.
Chief Executive Officer Zarina Ismail said the joint venture will bring in funding of up to RM1 billion to support the development of Sarawak’s space industry, with investments directed towards infrastructure, technology, and workforce development.
“This memorandum of understanding (MoU) covers cooperation in education, expertise, creating employment opportunities, and providing the best technology in the industry.
“This initiative is also expected to bring significant benefits and impact to Sarawak by introducing opportunities in the space sector, as well as strengthening the foundation of knowledge and skills in the rapidly growing industry,” she said.
She said this at the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing ceremony for the development of Sarawak’s space industry recently.
Infrakop’s representative Dr. Gobaind Naidu stated that the joint venture is expected to open up more job opportunities, with at least 1,000 vacancies in the space sector, and provide educational opportunities for youth in the state.
He said the company hopes this initiative will foster comprehensive development in the space industry ecosystem, integrating infrastructure, technology, and workforce readiness that will benefit Sarawak.
He also expressed hope that this long-term collaboration will bring significant changes to Sarawak, particularly in terms of local economic development.
Ventrix Borneo’s Chairman, Abang Abdul Rahman Hamid said the collaboration aims to contribute to the Sarawak Space Initiative and ensure the commitment of both parties as they enter the aerospace industry in Sarawak.
“This MoU also covers cooperation in education, expertise, job creation, and providing the most suitable technologies in the space industry.
“This initiative is expected to provide major benefits to Sarawak by introducing opportunities in the space sector, as well as strengthening the foundation of knowledge and skills in this rapidly evolving industry,” he explained.
Abdul Rahman noted that this collaboration will have a positive impact in positioning Sarawak as a hub for space aviation activities, while advancing the latest technologies in the sector.
