SEMATAN: The federal government has allocated RM1 billion in 2024 to support the Sejahtera Komuniti MADANI (SejaTi MADANI) programme, providing grants of up to RM100,000 per community to implement various initiatives.

Women, Family, and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri said in Sarawak, the programme’s implementation is strengthened through Village Development and Security Committees (JKKKs), which are registered and possess the JKKK Certificate of Registration.

“Last year alone, RM100 million was allocated to empower JKKKs in Sarawak. As a result, a total of 1,024 JKKKs have benefited, with 1,024 programmes approved based on the applications received,” she said in her speech during a Mock Cheque and Chinese New Year Gift Basket Presentation Ceremony at Dewan Kampung Tanah Hitam, here today (Jan 27).

According to Nancy, the programme focuses on five key sectors with the potential to boost local economies which are agriculture and food, sewing and handicrafts, herbs and health, tourism and hospitality and green activities and recycling.

“In the Tanjong Datu state constituency, 20 JKKKs have received funds under the SejaTi MADANI programme, amounting to RM1.99 million. These funds will support 20 initiatives, including 17 programmes in the tourism and hospitality sector and three in agriculture and food,” she explained.

She urged recipients to fully utilise the funds to create impactful programmes that align with the aspirations of the MADANI government.

Nancy also encouraged committees yet to apply to do so through the MySejaTi MADANI System at sejatimadani.icu.gov.my, noting that opportunities remain open.
