Muaythai Challenge 2025 draws greatness

KUCHING: The P206 Muaythai Challenge 2025 spectacle saw a successful turn-around as talents were unearthed, winners crowned and ample crowds filling in the stands.

Tanjong Manis MP, Yusuf Abd Wahab, praised the successful organisation of the P206 Muaythai Challenge 2025.

“By making this an annual event, we can make full use on the platform for promising athletes to test themselves while simultaneously nurture top talents in the sport,” said Yusuf at the closing ceremony.

The two-day event, which began on Jan 24 with the “Come and Try the Muaythai Sport” program, saw strong community support.

The Basketball Stadium in Taman Susur Jambu, Sarikei, was packed with muaythai fans who cheered enthusiastically during the final eight matches, following a day of preliminary bouts.

Muaythai clubs from across Malaysia and Indonesia participated, including PS Muaythai Club Bintulu, RAFF Teras Muaythai Gym, Muaythai Kenyalang Kuching, and West Borneo Muaythai Club from West Kalimantan.

The champions in various categories were: Muhammad Hakim Abdullah (Semi Pro 40-42 kg), Peter Alexander (Semi Pro 38-39 kg), Rifki Wirahadi (Semi Pro 51-54 kg), Mohd Nursyamil Mohd Firdaus (Semi Pro 27-29 kg), Huraikal (Semi Pro 51-54 kg), Rizz Ezzandy Iswandy (Semi Pro 36-38 kg), Ayu Arash’aqasha Azmi (Semi Pro 48 kg), and Aiman Taro (Pro 60 kg).

The event also saw attendance by Khairul Nizam Morshidi, Sarawak Sports Corporation acting chief executive officer, Martin Lutar, Muaythai West Kalimantan Indonesia general chairman, Norizan Ibrahim, Sarawak Muaythai Association representative, and Louis Yeo Soon Guan, Sarikei district officer.
