New leadership installed for Kapit Scout Council 2025-2027 term

KUCHING: The Kapit Scout Council for the 2025-2027 term has been officially installed during a ceremony recently.

The event saw the appointment of Cerislogo Sabut as chairman, alongside a diverse group of council members comprising government officials and individuals from academic, business, and other professional backgrounds.

The ceremony also confirmed the continued roles of Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi and Deputy Minister in Sarawak Premier’s Department (Native Customs and Laws) Datuk Jefferson Jamit Unyat as Patrons of the Kapit Scout Council.

Sarawak Scout Council President Tan Sri William Mawan Ikom extended his gratitude to the newly appointed members for their commitment to the scouting movement. He also stressed the importance of their roles in advancing scouting initiatives in the Kapit region.

He said this in his speech read out by Sarawak Scout Council deputy chief commissioner Methodius Macdonald George Sigie.

As part of the ceremony, Mawan also announced a RM10,000 grant to support the council’s programmes and activities for 2025. This was further bolstered by donations from Nanta and Jamit, who pledged RM20,000 and RM10,000 respectively.

The event was attended by prominent figures including Sarawak Scout Council chief commissioner Captain Zainuddin Hamdan, as well as heads of government departments, community leaders, commissioners, and scout leaders.
