KUCHING: In the spirit of Chinese New Year, Saberkas Batu Lintang, in collaboration with the staff and management of Sarawak General Hospital, held a special event yesterday (Jan 25).

The programme aimed to spread festive cheer by distributing mandarin oranges and ang pow (red packets) to patients at the hospital.

In addition, the organisers expressed their gratitude to nurses and healthcare workers who tirelessly perform their duties, even during the festive season.

“Sarawak General Hospital has a capacity of 1,800 beds, but it is often fully occupied. Therefore, we want to send an important message to the community — prioritising health is essential,” said Batu Lintang assemblyman See Chee How.

He further emphasised the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle through good nutrition and regular exercise to minimise the risk of falling ill.

“When we are healthy, we do not need to be in the hospital. This not only reduces the strain on the healthcare system but also saves medical costs,” he added.
