KUCHING: The Sibu and Miri Visitor Information Centres (VICs) under the Sarawak Tourism Board are thrilled to present the Lunar New Year Market: Spring in the City, a vibrant pop-up celebration taking place on Jan 25 to 26 at the VIC Sibu Garden and VIC Miri Garden.
Over the two festive nights from 5pm to 10pm, the event will feature captivating cultural performances and a diverse array of artisan vendors, with VIC Sibu hosting 12 vendors and VIC Miri showcasing 22 vendors.
“Together, they promise a vibrant celebration of the Year of the Shake through art, tradition, and community,” said VICs through a press statement on Friday (Jan 24).
Visitors will be immersed in the festive atmosphere through captivating performances including the Lion Dance, Dragon Dance, San Tai Zi-an energetic and theatrical dance from Chinese folklore and an exhilarating Wushu demonstration.
“The event also highlights the talents of local artisans, providing a chance to explore Sarawak’s creativity and take home unique handmade crafts,” it said.
As a family-friendly celebration, the Lunar New Year Market promises a memorable experience for locals, tourists and the entire community.
Beyond the festivities, this event underscores the evolving role of Sarawak’s Visitor Information Centres as dynamic community hubs.
