KUCHING: Sarawak Scout Council president Tan Sri Datuk Sri William Mawan Ikom officially launched the highly anticipated Sarawak Scout Eco-Run 4.0 on Friday (Jan 24).

He encouraged the public, especially running enthusiasts, scouts, and students, to actively participate in the event.

Scheduled for June 29, the event will feature two main categories. The Matang Warrior Trail Run, the centerpiece of the event, offers four distance options: 3km, 6km, 12km, and 21km, providing participants an opportunity to explore Matang’s scenic and rugged terrain.

Simultaneously, the Sarawak Eco-Run will feature a 3km route in all 33 scout districts across Sarawak, enabling widespread participation in the initiative.

“I urge everyone to take part in this meaningful event,” said Mawan, emphasising its dual goals of promoting environmental sustainability and fostering community unity.

He highlighted that the run goes beyond physical endurance, serving as a platform to encourage eco-consciousness among Sarawakians.

The event will also feature attractive cash prizes for winners in the respective categories. Registration will open next Monday (Jan 27) through forms available at the Scout Headquarters or via the official Scout Telegram platform.
