KUCHING: The establishment of Premier Integrated Labs here marks a significant milestone in addressing healthcare disparities across Malaysia, particularly in Sarawak.
Deputy Health Minister Datuk Lukanisman Awang Sauni said that the initiative aims to overcome the challenges posed by Sarawak’s vast geography, particularly in ensuring that remote and underserved communities have access to the high-quality medical services.
“The importance of early and accurate diagnosis in healthcare cannot be overstated. Non-communicable diseases, including cancer, diabetes and cardiovascular conditions, represent some of the most pressing health challenges of our time.
“Early detection, coupled with timely and effective interventions, has the potential to save lives and significantly enhance long-term health outcomes.
“Therefore, Premier Integrated Labs stands as a beacon of progress in this effort, offering a comprehensive suite of diagnostic services, ranging from routine tests to advanced molecular and cytogenetic analyses.”
He said this in his speech during the opening ceremony of Premier Integrated Labs at Wisma Soon Lien Hong here on Thursday (Jan 23).
He also said that the capabilities offers by the facility are instrumental in addressing the growing burden of noncommunicable diseases and strengthening the capacity for early detection and prevention.
“This occasion also highlights the strength of collaboration between the public and private sectors in advancing healthcare excellence.
“Premier Integrated Labs Kuching, supported by IHH Healthcare Malaysia, serves as a testament to how private-sector expertise can complement the government’s efforts in establishing a resilient and world-class healthcare system.”
He also said that initiatives like this have inspired him with hope and optimism for the future of healthcare in Malaysia.
“Let me take this opportunity to reaffirm the ministry’s steadfast commitment to supporting Premier Integrated Labs as it embarks on its journey to serve the people of Sarawak.
“Your dedication will undoubtedly elevate the standards of healthcare in this region and contribute significantly to the nation’s broader healthcare goals,” Lukanisman said.
