SIBU: Tourism, Arts, and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing will host a Chinese New Year open house at Pulau Li Hua Commercial Centre on Jan 30.
The open house will take place from 8 am to 1 pm, and all are invited.
According to the organising chairman, Political Secretary to the Sarawak Premier, Joshua Ting Fu Ying, the event is expected to attract more attendees, surpassing last year’s record of 10,000 visitors.
“The open house not only showcases the beauty of Chinese culture but also symbolises racial unity in celebrating a prosperous new year.
“The organisers warmly welcome elected representatives, community leaders, and the public to witness this meaningful celebration,” he said in a statement today (Jan 23).
He added that the event will feature captivating performances, including lion dances, cultural shows, and singing by local artistes, enhancing the festive atmosphere of the New Year.
“In addition, senior citizens and children under the age of 12 will receive red packets, spreading joy and blessings during this celebration,” he said.
A variety of delectable dishes will also be prepared and served free of charge at the venue.
“The menu will include halal traditional Malay cuisine alongside special Chinese dishes such as dry noodles, chicken rice, cakoi (fried dough), laksa, mee mamak, roti canai, and more.
“Guests can enjoy this diverse array of food while taking part in the festivities.
“Let us welcome the Year of the Snake with joy and prosperity! The organisers extend an invitation to all members of society to come together and celebrate 2025, a year full of hope and blessings,” he said.
