Miri police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said the arrest was made at around 2 pm following suspicions of drug distribution activities in the area.

“During the raid, the team seized 13 plastic packets containing crystalline substance believed to be methamphetamine, kept inside a black plastic bag.

“The drugs weighed 70g and are estimated to be worth RM7,700,” he said in a statement.

The suspect and seized drugs were taken to the police station for further action.

Alexson said the suspect is under remand until Jan 28 to facilitate investigations under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for drug trafficking.

He pointed out that if convicted, the suspect could face the death sentence or life sentence.

Members of the public are urged to report any drug-related activities to the nearest police station.
