KUCHING: Pansar Bhd has secured a RM477.69 million contract from the Sarawak Public Works Department (JKR) for the construction of a dual carriageway highway linking Serian to Gedong.
The Main Market-listed company, through its subsidiary Perbena Emas Sdn Bhd (PESB), received the contract to design and build the crucial highway.
The award was confirmed in a filing with Bursa Malaysia, which stated that PESB had received an official letter of acceptance from JKR Sarawak. The contract was awarded via an invited tender process and is set for a 36-month period with construction expected to commence in February this year.
Identified as the Serian-Gedong-Samarahan dual carriageway highway (Package 1: Simpang Rayang/Munggu Kopi/Tanah Puteh/Sebemban to Gedong District), the project will focus on Section 1B which is the construction of a new road from Simpang Tanah Puteh to Gedong Isthmus.
The 8.5-kilometre stretch will include a four-lane JKR R5 road (dual carriageway) complete with two bridges, an Autonomous Rail Transit (ART) reserve, bicycle tracks, utility corridors, road lighting, road furniture and signage.
