KUCHING: MagnumCares has brought joy to over 15,000 individuals across Malaysia through its nationwide “Welfare Homes Outreach” programme, with contributions exceeding RM750,000.
The initiative, which includes donations, festive goodies, and essential supplies, aims to make Chinese New Year a memorable occasion for residents of over 215 welfare homes, including those for the elderly, disabled, and orphans.
In Sarawak, the programme touched the lives of over 1,400 individuals at 20 welfare homes, with contributions totalling RM65,740.
A key component of the outreach is the Home Enhancement Programme (HEP), which focuses on improving living conditions at the homes.
This year, HEP activities included repairs, refurbishments, and replacements, such as installing eco-friendly LED lights, upgrading furniture, and renovating therapy areas.
“The programme this time around had also improved the facilities at the Special Needs Society Kuching which includes the installation of a water tank, a rack, and energy-efficient LED lighting at the centre,” Magnum said in a statement.
Sister Felis Ogey from Sarawak Cheshire Home expressed gratitude for the support.
“We’ve been eagerly following this programme and were absolutely thrilled when selected. Your generous support has made a huge difference to over 60 residents at our [home], providing them with a safer, more comfortable environment and renewed hope for a brighter future,” she said.
Datuk Chan Chee Fai, Magnum’s Executive Vice President and Group Chief Commercial Officer, emphasised the importance of continuing to support those in need.
“The Year of the Snake reminds us of resilience and renewal, and this festive season is the perfect time to celebrate new beginnings together,” he said.
“Through our efforts, we aim to bring brighter tomorrows to those in need, living up to our slogan, ‘For You, With You.’”
