IF one takes a stroll in Metrocity one cannot miss the sight of some patrons lining up in front of a stall at the front section of the mighty Grand Dragon Supermarket. They are waiting to be served with the well-known tasty Legend Burger operated by Pak Jemuri, 65 who has been in the burger business some 35 years including the last five years in Metrocity on the said site.
Prior to that, he was operating the Legend Burger stall in Batu Kawah for 30 years.
For Legend Burger he lists the prices as such that Benjo (egg) costs RM2.00; Benjo Cheese costs RM3.50; and Double Egg costs RM3.50. For Hot Dog, one costs RM2.50; Hot Dog with Egg costs RM3.50; Hot Dog Cheese costs RM3.50; Double Hot Dog costs RM3.50 whereas Hot Dog Special is priced at RM5.00 each.
For Beef/Chicken one costs RM2.50 while Beef/Chicken with Egg costs RM4.00; Beef/Chicken with Cheese is priced at RM4.00 as so is Double Beef/Chicken while Beef/Chicken Special (Egg and Cheese) costs 5.00 and Legend Burger Special is sold at RM6.00 each.
In his Menu Ramly Burger, he lists the prices as follows.
Ramly Beef/Chicken costs RM5.50 each, and with egg, it is priced at RM6.50; Ramly Beef/Chicken with Cheese costs RM6.50 and Double Ramly Beef/Chicken is charged at RM9.00 while Ramly Beef/Chicken Special (Egg and Cheese) costs RM8.00.
For the Menu of Homemade Burger Jemuri lists the prices such as Beef/Chicken at RM5.50 while with egg it is priced at RM6.50 and similarly priced for Beef/Chicken burger with cheese. For Double Beef/Chicken, it is priced at RM9.00 whereas for Beef/Chicken Special (Egg and Cheese) it is priced at RM8.00.
Then there is a list of prices for Nugget. One nugget is charged at RM5.00 while Nugget Cheese costs RM6.00 and similarly, Nugget Egg also costs RM6.00 while Nugget Special (Egg and Cheese) is charged at RM7.00 whereas Double Nugget is priced at RM8.00.
He also sells Kambing (Mutton) with the menu listing prices Kambing burger at RM6.00 and Egg at RM7.00 while Kambing Cheese is priced at RM7.00 and Kambing with Cheese and Egg is charged at RM8.00 whereas Double Kambing costs RM10.
For the ‘Other Burger’ menu he lists in his sales as Oblong costing RM7.00 while Oblong Beef/Chicken costs RM8.00 Oblong Beef/Chicken Special is priced at RM9.00 and Oblong Kambing at RM8.00 plus egg it costs RM9.00 and with Cheese it also costs RM9.00 while Special Oblong costs RM10.
Pak Jemuri is sometimes helped by his son and daughter-in-law. He sells about 200 pieces of burgers daily and is open daily except on some public holidays. By the look of it, his customers are representing the broad plural community in the state, young and old.
During my observation, there were small kids as well as the elders joining the queue in front of his stall. All were looking anxious in anticipation of the tasty burger made by Pak Jemuri.
I made a small contribution to his stall by purchasing a Ramly Burger Special (Chicken/Cheese and Egg) priced at RM8.00 which is my regular purchase from his stall since 2019. This has been my favourite and my connection with the seller since more than five years ago. It’s a tasty treat for me.
