KANOWIT: The Nanga Ngemah Market, which serves as the economic hub and gathering place for the local community, is set to receive a fresh boost through the Phase Two upgrade of its parking facilities.
Ngemah assemblyman Anyi Jana stated that this project, funded through his Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) allocation, aims to complement the infrastructure built during the first phase last year.
He explained that this need has become a priority due to frequent parking congestion in the Nanga Ngemah Market area, particularly for teachers from two nearby schools and residents of surrounding longhouses.
“Nanga Ngemah Market is not only an economic centre but also a symbol of a thriving community.
“With adequate parking facilities, we aim to ensure a smoother and more convenient experience for residents,” he said during an inspection of the project on Monday (Jan 20).
Additionally, his long-term vision for the area has also garnered attention.
A multipurpose hall has been completed and is now serving as a key platform for various community activities, transforming Nanga Ngemah Market into more than just a trading location.
The project inspection was also attended by Ngemah Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) deputy division chief Ramba Resang and other guests.
