KUCHING: Special Select Committee on Environment, Science, and Plantations (JKPK ASSP) chairman Datuk Ahmad Amzad Mohamed @ Hashim praised Sarawak’s strategic investment in hydrogen technology, emphasising its relevance in addressing future energy demands while reducing reliance on carbon-emitting energy sources.

He said Sarawak has made commendable progress in green energy, achieving significant percentages of energy production from carbon-free sources like hydrogen and hydroelectricity.

“This is an initiative we aim to highlight so that, at the national level, other states can follow Sarawak’s example,” he said.

He said this when met by reporters after a courtesy call from the JKPK ASSP delegation on Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg at Wisma Bapa Malaysia today.

On another note, Ahmad Amzad said JKPK ASSP had finalised important statements in Parliament last year on the development of rare earth elements and national issues related to the Lynas plant.

Speaking further on the courtesy visit, Ahmad Amzad said it aimed to exchange views on key environmental and scientific advancements, particularly on Sarawak’s pioneering efforts in hydrogen technology.
