KUCHING: The Kota Sentosa Town Square will receive additional facilities following the approval of phase two of its upgrading works under the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) project.

Kota Sentosa Assemblyman Wilfred Yap Yau Sin said this is one of two projects approved by the Premier’s Department under his RTP 2024 application with allocations totalling RM330,000.

“Phase two of the Kota Sentosa Town Square upgrading works will cost RM300,000.

“After the completion of the first phase of the upgrading of Kota Sentosa Town Square which cost RM500,000, the local community requested the installation of louvres and awnings.

“They also requested the main hall floor area to be further extended with railings for the stage, as well as new electrical wirings for the existing lights which are not in working condition due to faulty old wiring,” he said.

Yap said the second approved project is the upgrading of existing carparks at the 7th Mile Penrissen Road Community Association at a cost of RM30,000.

“The resurfacing of the carpark area of 7th Mile Penrissen Road Community Association was requested by the committee due to potholes and uneven surface.

“A portion of the community hall currently serves as a funeral parlour for the local communities with an average of 10 to 15 families using the funeral parlour every month,” he added.

Upon being notified of the approval, Yap visited both project sites together with several local community leaders and officers from the Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) to finalise the scope of works and bill of quantities.

During the visit, he also requested MPP officers to promptly complete the scope and specification together with the bill of quantities so that both projects can commence as soon as possible for the benefit of locals.
