KUCHING: The Kuching Car Free Morning 2025 officially kicked off at Padang Merdeka here, bringing people together in a healthy environment.
It also saw the launching of the DBKU 2025 Event Calendar featuring various activities aimed at promoting a sense of wellness, sustainability, and unity among the people.
Deputy Minister of Utility and Telecommunication Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi, who represented Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, launched the DBKU 2025 Annual Calendar and KCFM on Sunday (Jan 19).
According to him, the KCMF represents healthy lifestyle activities that can unite communities.
“KCMF serves as a clear example of how activities centred on promoting a healthy lifestyle can bring people together and unite us all as one community.
“Beyond encouraging physical well-being, it also plays a great role in fostering strong bonds of togetherness and coexistence among people from all walks of life,” he said.
The KCFM, held twice a month, has firmly established itself as a highly anticipated event that resonates with city residents.
The 2025 edition of KCFM kicked off with a highly enthusiastic response from the public, who braved the rain to participate in various recreational activities such as walking, cycling, and other forms of outdoor exercise.
The KCFM seeks to lessen carbon emissions, ease traffic congestion, and engender a healthy, active lifestyle in harmony with the environment.
It also aims to create awareness about the importance of environmental sustainability while serving as a point of social interaction and recreation for its residents within the city.
The launching of the DBKU 2025 Event Calendar was also carried out simultaneously.
For starters it introduced a “Design a Cat-Shaped Running Route” Competition, where participants can create out-of-the-box ideas to span the 10 to 15-kilometre running distance under the DBKU administrative area.
Those interested in participating in the “Design a Cat-Shaped Running Route” Competition, can contact the Community Development and Services Division of DBKU at 082 524 446.
