BINTANGOR: The Sarawak government has approved RM41 million for the upgrade of the Bintangor Waterfront.

According to Meradong assemblyman, Datuk Ding Kuong Hiing, the project will include an expanded concrete walkway, a park, new roads, and the iconic Bintangor lime structure, which represents the town.

“Besides that, the development will feature food kiosks, safety fencing, pedestrian shelters, gazebos, a concrete jetty, a bus terminal with parking, landscaping, a Sarawak Rivers Board office, a mini police station, and a One-Stop Centre (OTC),” he said.

He said this in his speech during the 2025 Chinese New Year Celebration Dinner at a local restaurant, here recently.

Ding also highlighted several projects under the Rajang Delta Development Agency (RADDA) here, aimed at transforming the local landscape and improving residents’ quality of life.

“These include the upgrading of Bintangor Recreation Park (RM4 million), the construction of a two-storey multipurpose hall (RM18 million), an alternative route from Jalan Kilang to Jalan Janting (RM8 million), a main pipeline from Jalan Kelupu to the Tulai Booster Station (RM10 million), and upgrades to Bintangor town’s reticulation system (RM25 million),” he said.

On a separate matter,  Ding praised the stable economy under Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, which has allowed the Sarawak government to introduce the Sumbangan Keperluan Asas Sarawak (SKAS) to ease the financial burden on the people.

From this January 23 to 25, a team under the supervision of the Meradong District Office will assist with Sarawak ID and S PAY Global registration for SKAS recipients at the Meradong and Julau District Council Community Hall.
