KUCHING: The Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Southern Zone Branch has proposed the expansion and enhancement of the Village Expansion Scheme (SPK) in Southern Zone areas to meet the needs of the growing population.

PBB vice president Datuk Seri Roland Sagah said the party members also supported the Sarawak government’s efforts in education through funding and assistance, as well as realising free education policies at Sarawak-owned universities starting in 2026.

“We also proposed that the positions of PBB President, Deputy Presidents, and Senior Vice Presidents not be contested.

“Our PBB Southern Zone also gives our strong support and full authority to the Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg to claim Sarawak’s rights as enshrined in the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63),” he said.

These were among the resolutions at the PBB Southern Zone Branch Delegates Meeting held at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) here today.

He also reiterated the party’s support for the Premier and the Sarawak government’s efforts to increase the number of parliamentary seats for Sarawak to achieve one-third representation in the Dewan Rakyat.

“We fully support the development policies and strategies of Abang Johari and the Sarawak government to foster economic inclusivity, harmony, balance, and unity among the people.

“We also backed the leadership of the Premier in ensuring Sarawak becomes the most advanced region in Malaysia and the Asian region and to strengthen economic activities and promote entrepreneurship in both urban and rural areas through entrepreneur development programmes,” he added.

Sagah said the party also urged the Sarawak government not to compromise with any parties attempting to raise issues related to race and religion in Sarawak to ensure unity and prosperity for all.

“We also called for an increase in public awareness programmes, training, and education to enable the people to participate in digital and new economy activities,” he said
