KUCHING: It was a night written in the stars for Daeloniel ‘Kilat Boy’ Mcdelon Bong, who secured a dominant TKO victory over Indonesia’s Boido Simanjuntak at the Rentap Fighting Championship.

As the rain poured down and thunder rumbled through the skies, Daeloniel’s fists struck with similar intensity, echoing the fierce storm overhead.

The Sri Aman-born boxer was lightning-fast, moving with precision while his veteran opponent struggled to keep up. Simanjuntak’s bruised face told the story of the overwhelming pressure Daeloniel applied throughout the fight.

A week ago, Daeloniel told Sarawak Tribune that he rarely faces southpaw opponents. Despite Simanjuntak’s left-handed stance, it was clear the Indonesian couldn’t match Daeloniel’s focus and speed.

Known for his explosive style, Daeloniel didn’t just win the fight—he captured the hearts of his fans. In a proud tribute to his Iban roots, he stepped into the ring wearing the male baju burung, showcasing his heritage.

“So far, I’m happy with my performance tonight. I didn’t expect this, especially since my opponent is also a veteran. I had watched him fight before, and he always fought till the last round.

“I was a bit thrown off in the first and second rounds because he’s a southpaw. I’m not used to facing left-handed opponents,” Daeloniel shared with reporters after the fight last night (Jan 18).

When asked about his strategy, Daeloniel said he just focused on using straight punches.

“I always rely on the hook; it’s one of my go-to moves in the ring.”

Daeloniel didn’t forget to thank his fans, who were a huge support to him.

“I want to thank everyone who came out tonight, especially our families. Thanks for your continuous support and for waiting for us to fight,” he said.

In just three weeks, Daeloniel will return to the ring at the Johor International Boxing Championship in Johor Bahru on Feb 16.

When asked if his win at Rentap Fighting Championship would boost his training, he responded positively.

“Yes, this win feels like a warm-up for the year ahead. Inshallah, there will be more fights lined up for me this year,” he said.
