KUCHING: Residents of Rumah Jawi Abu in Sungai Gemuan, Bintangor, were able to carry out repairs on their longhouse with the help of building materials provided to them.

The materials were provided by Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability and Sarikei MP Datuk Seri Huang Tiong Sii.

“This initiative, part of the 2024 Projek Mesra Rakyat (PMR), aims to repair the longhouse.

“The materials have been supplied to help residents restore the deteriorating structure, with funding allocated through the Sarikei Parliamentary budget,” he said.

Huang, who is also the Repok assemblyman, said he deeply cares about the welfare and needs of the people in the Sarikei and Repok constituencies.

“I hope this assistance will help ease the financial burden of the residents working to repair their longhouses,” he added.

Meanwhile, village chief Jawi Abu, on behalf of the longhouse residents, expressed gratitude to Huang for his concern over their challenges.
