SIBU: Journalists are the frontline heroes in every event, big or small, says Dewan Rakyat Deputy Speaker Alice Lau.

Lau, who is also the Lanang MP, said that journalists endure various challenges to bring accurate and timely information to the public.

“Your commitment to fair reporting ensures that society remains informed and connected.

“Whether it’s reporting breaking news, sharing inspiring stories, or shedding light on important issues, your work is indispensable to the community.

“Through your lens, the truth is revealed, and your words foster understanding,” she said in her speech during the Media Night held at a renowned hotel here last night (Jan 17).

She added that beyond providing accurate news, journalists serve as a crucial link between the government and the people.

“This connection not only ensures the clear communication of government policies but also amplifies the voices of the public, bringing their concerns and challenges to the attention of the relevant authorities,” she said.

Therefore, Lau encouraged journalists to keep up their incredible spirit.

“In today’s fast-paced world, where information spreads quickly, your role in verifying and sharing accurate news is more important than ever.

“Continue to uphold the values of integrity, fairness, and professionalism as you serve our society with your stories,” she said.
